Yohimbe
Yohimbe
began his musical career at the age of 5, taking violin lessons
for 5 years, and then moving on to 6 years of playing the
piano , with 15 years on drums. During his teenage years he
delved into many other instruments, from trumpet to saxophone;
getting a good feel for anything musical.
Basement
bands and jam sessions helped shape his interest in performing.
In the early 1990s, with a keen interest in Industrial music
and a newfound love of techno, the party-scene beckoned. In
1995 he threw his first party and began DJing chill-out music.
Soon he heard Goa Trance for the first time and decided to
get serious about DJing it.
By
mid-1997 he conceived and developed Moonshadow Collective,
throwing free psychedelic trance parties on summer full moons
to commence Toronto’s Psytrance scene. He left Toronto
in 1999 after throwing the city’s first full-on indoor
trance party, featuring Matt Boom and Baraka, and headed to
San Francisco.
Since,
he has developed his sound, spreading his infectious vibe
of hard and dark psychedelic trance, always with high energy
and progression. In addition to DJing, he was an active participant
in the annual festivities of Earthdance, 1998-1999, and rocked
the desert at Burning Man, 1999-2003.
Over
the past couple of years he has moved into producing psytrance.
Awakening on Alien FM is Yohimbe’s first commercial
release. Look out for more….
